Improving Coherence Through Subordination

     He ran up the front steps.  He burst through the door.  The door slammed noisily against the wall.  He didn't stop to close the door.  He raced through the rooms.  He kept calling Peter's name.  His voice was hoarse and frantic with fear.  He wanted to find Peter.  He was afraid of what he might find.  He raced upstairs.  He flung open the doors to bedrooms and closets.  He raced back downstairs.  He went down into the basement.  A noise, half scream, half groan, burst from him.  I stood at the top of the steps.  I was afraid to go down.  I knew what he had found.
